Colin McFarlane (Jnr) 1851 - 1932 married Maud Evans daughter of Thomas Evans of the National Bank and carried on his father's business as a saddler. In 1902 he was testing the breach block of a rifle when a charge exploded, struck a stone in the road, and ricochetted across High Street, striking James Langdon in the groin, He died 2 hours later,

AN OLD PIONEER RESIDENT of Strathalbyn in the person of the late Mr. Colin D. McFarlane died in Adelaide last week, at the advanced age of 82 years, and was laid to rest in the Strathalbyn Cemetery in the presence of a few of his old friends, his decease being now known of by many people in the town, of which at one time he was an active and usesful citizen. For the last few years he had been very feeble in health and though physically strong gradually became unbalanced mentally, and for some months lost his memory so completely that he had to be cared for in a mental home. He leaves a widow, two daughters and one son.
