John Kelsey Evans

John was born on the 20th July 1902 at First Avenue, East Adelaide, South Australia. He was baptised on 21st September, 1902 at St. Peters School Chapel by the Rev. Henry Girdlestone (the Minister who married his Parents).

In his early years, John moved to Western Australia, where he worked on properties and then bought Caderly Farm, at Darkan.

John and Maud's WeddingJohn married Hilda Maude Trotman on 31st August, 1935 in Christ Church, Claremont, Western Australia. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. John Bell. Maude (as she was better known) was born in Bendigo, Victoria to Herbert Stanlake & Ellen Maud Trotman nee Nankivell. She had trained as a nurse and was living at Subiaco at the time of her marriage.

Two girls were born to John and Maud.


John died on the 28th December, 1952. He had been enjoying a day of cricket but on the way home felt unwell, so he stopped at a friend's farm. He took ill, an ambulance was called, but he died later. He is buried in the Rose Memorial Section of Karrakatta Cemetery, in Perth.

Maude eventually moved to Perth with their two young daughters. They lived at Nedlands. Maude died in 1994.
