Mattie, Jessie and CharlieJessie, Mattie's twin sister, also grew up in Fiji and attended Suva Girls' Grammar. Jessie married Charles Wardrop in Fiji and lived there until 1990. They then moved to Whangerei, New Zealand when they retired.

Charlie trained as a motor mechanic in the '30s and had the distinction of working with Kingsford Smith. He is mentioned in Mackersey's book SMITHY -- The Life of Sir Charles Kingsford Smith.

The Wardrops had two children.

Charlie died in 2001. He had been suffering a lot of back pain in and was walking with difficulty. He died peacefully in Whangarei hospital while undergoing treatment. Podge moved into a new house which they had been building on farm land next door to their daughter but died in March 2003.
